  4. Mid-Autumn Festival 2026

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is observed each year on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month when the moon is at its fullest and brightest. It's a time to share a meal with the people you love, exchange gifts, and give thanks for the year's blessings.

On the night of Mid-Autumn, families across the world turn their eyes to the sky. Offerings of mooncakes, pomelos, and burning incense are laid out in honour of Chang'e, the moon goddess, as prayers and gratitude are sent heavenward. And as night falls, lanterns are lit to be carried by children through the streets, hung from trees, and floated into the sky. Each one a small, glowing wish sent out into the dark.

Your Mid-Autumn Festival Guide

Mooncakes

No Mid-Autumn celebration is complete without a mooncake. These dense, golden pastries are the symbol of the festival. Round like the full moon, and traditionally shared with family as a gesture of unity, wholeness, and good fortune. Slice one open, share it around the table, and let it sweeten the night. Find them this season at Black Star Pastry.

Feast with the Family

At its core, Mid-Autumn Festival is a reunion, and no reunion is complete without a table full of food. From whole fish and river crab to taro and seasonal fruit, the feast is as much a part of the celebration as the moon itself. Gather the family, find a seat, and let the night take care of the rest. Browse our favourite restaurants below to find the perfect way to celebrate.
