Meet the retailer: Sofian and Bryan from Primrose

We sat down with Sofian and Bryan from Primrose to understand what a day at one of Macquarie's most luxurious cafes looks like!

Tell us about your store?
We are definitely known for our famous all day breakfast, unique lunch options and a variety of healthy and delicious meals. All of our meals and cakes are hand-made daily utilising the freshest ingredients.
One of the things we are really proud of is our house blend coffee: Serenity Blend, is unique and crafted by expert barista Sofian. Our speciality blend is sweet and balanced with bold floral fruity notes and distinct flavours of caramel and hazelnut.
 
What sets your store apart from other stores? 
Our menu has a variety of healthy choices and offers a number of vegan and vegetarian options. There is a distinct Asian twist in our offering reflecting our heritage. We are also one of the few cafés in the precinct with a liquor licence so customers can enjoy their meal with a glass of wine or cold beer.
We are child-friendly and have ample space for prams (or shopping trolleys)! Our special kid's menu has mazes, find-a-words and dot-to-dot puzzles to keep your little ones busy.

What does your typical day look like?
Typically, our day involves getting into the kitchen early to make sure our ingredients are ready for the day. We then bake our popular muffins and ensure that our staff is ready for the busy breakfast and lunch service. In the afternoon, we work on product development, working with our staff to create new or improve existing breakfast or lunch offerings. Front staff ensure everything is in order for next day.
 
What are your top three tips for success as a new retailer at Macquarie Centre?
  1. Product – Have a great product, time it well. Ensure the market is ready and identify industry trends.
  2. Financials – Understand the business’s financials. Be realistic in your assumptions. At the end of the day the business needs to be sustainable.
  3. Team – Have a team that shares the same vision and passion as you do.
