Store: Urban Spa

Tell us about your store?
Urban Spa is a family owned business which has been running for over 35 years! We aim to create a beautiful spa experience for our clients with a variety of health and beauty services including waxing, facials, Swedish massages, lash extensions and even teeth whitening! One of our best kept secrets are our more intensive treatments including skin needling and IPL. You can also take our spa experience home with our incredible skin care range which is not only cosmeceutical grade but made up of plant extracts and essential oils.

What sets your stores apart from other spas?
It’s so important for our team to ensure all our clients leave our salon feeling like they have had a truly relaxing spa-like experience, escaping from their everyday lives just for a moment, to indulge and prioritise self-care. This is even the case with our smaller treatments like an eyebrow wax; each client receives a consultation and hopefully a personalised experience.

What does your typical day look like?
It really is a serene, happy and a peaceful environment to work in each day. Everyday is very different depending on what treatments we have booked in. Some days we will have full day of our intensive spa packages where we are working with clients for the majority of the day and others could be a back-to-back day of a mix of treatments including waxing, intensive treatments and massages.

What would your top 3 tips be for success as a new retailer coming to Macquarie Centre?
  1. Customer Service – The service you offer you clients is key. You need to ensure that your clients not only receiving a high standard of service and customisation, but that is consistently the experience you provide.
  2. Staff – Richard Branson said that ‘If you look after your staff, they’ll look after your customers.” And it is that simple, ensuring your staff are treated with respect and are rewarded for their hard work heavily contributes to a happy working environment and this will ultimately flow on to the experience had by our clients.
  3. Marketing – Learn how to market your store. It will take time, but aiming to understand the basics of how to market and promote what your offer is, is so vital. And don’t be shy to ask for help from experts if you need it!
