Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) - reading the license plate of each car as it enters the Macquarie Centre car park and logging time of entry for each vehicle.

As Macquarie Centre continues to get busier, the difficulty for customers to park with ease at peak-time continues. We understand that many visitors from Macquarie Business Park and Macquarie University use our car park and do not actually shop in our centre. We know that these individuals often park in our car park and simply exit the car park to re-enter and park every three hours, to keep within the free parking limit.

The use of LPR will eliminate this from happening as it records the entry time of each car as it enters the car park – and logs the entry time. This means that cars will no longer be able to exit and then re-enter the car park to claim an additional 3-hours free parking period – and normal parking rates will apply.
The parking system operates on a licence plate recognition system where a camera on entry and exit of the car park captures the licence plate of each vehicle as it enters and leaves the car park.

On entry to the car park, the time of entry is recorded and assigned to the registration of the vehicle. You will still need to pull a ticket as the ticket is required to exit the car park.

If your visit is within 3 hours: Simply proceed straight to the exit; insert your parking ticket and exit the car park. The LPR system will recognise your licence plate number as your car exits the car park.

If your visit is over 3 hours: You then pay any additional parking charges at any Pay Station or on exit.
